FC Barcelona and Manchester City have swapped many stars in the past, but the new transfer window could bring another move, in this case, it is one of the young lads of the English side’s Academy. But also, he spent time in his childhood playing for the Blaugrana team. Now, Ronald Koeman asked the club to go for him.

Eric García was valued in €10 million but given his contract runs out by the end of June, the English club wants to prevent him to leave on a free transfer, leaving not a cent in its bank account. Therefore, they accepted to reduce the price and receive lower offers. There is the point in which Barcelona comes in.

García played 16 matches for the first team since he joined Manchester City for the 2018-19 season, after having an initial period in the U23 team. Currently, he’s recovering from coronavirus after testing positive last week. Barcelona was interested in signing him in summer, but things could turn around.

As per reports coming from Spain, Manchester City has agreed with García to allow him to move to Barcelona. Now, it would be up to Barcelona’s board, led by club’s CEO Òscar Grau and technical secretary Ramon Planes to close the deal “as soon as possible to face new challenges” said Carlos Tusquets, president of the Management Commission.

International before being 20

Eric García made his debut for Spanish national team last September in a 4-0 win over Ukraine for the UEFA Nations League, then played two friendly match against Portugal and Netherlands, and finally replaced injured Sergio Ramos in the astonishing 6-0 win over Germany for the mentioned European tournament. He turned 20 years old last week.
