First contact for the future. Around 8:00 p.m. in Catalonia, Ronald Koeman met with the president of Barcelona, Joan Laporta, for just 20 minutes to discuss whether the Dutchman will continue to lead the club.

The season of the Culé team was not outstanding, although it cannot be said that it was bad either. Although he was eliminated prematurely in the Champions League, he fought the League until the second to last day, and managed to obtain the Copa del Rey with a team without major reinforcements the previous year. With the season over, the board of the Blaugrana team called the coach at the Camp Nou offices for a meeting.

In addition to Laporta, the club's sports director, Mateu Alemany, was also present. Although it was not revealed what they talked about, the meeting lasted only half an hour and they agreed to meet again to continue talking. Koeman's idea's clear, since he intends to continue to fulfill his contract, which ends in June 2022.

In fact, a few days ago, it was Ronald himself who told the press the idea of being in the Barcelona bank the following season. Of course, the future could be decided in the coming days, as they will come together again to determine the future of the coach, renew him for a while longer, or replace him with one that suits the idea of the new directive.

There're rumors about a possible arrival of Xavi, who renewed as manager in Al-Sadd but with a special clause in case an offer arrives to direct Barcelona. Other names also came up, although they would be more difficult because they are currently under contract with other teams.

The truth is that, facing the 21/22 season, the Blaugrana management would make an economic effort to bring in several reinforcements and, thus, be able to build a competitive squad for Koeman, or the coach that is decided in the near future.
