We have spoken a lot about Sergio Ramos and the few possibilities he has of staying in Real Madrid after his contract expires next June 30. The Spanish icon seems set to leave the club in which he reached the world and could be departing soon. The negotiations for a contract extension are allegedly over.

Facing this scenario, Zinedine Zidane has no other choice than going out on the market and looking for a center back. And the situation turns even more critical if we consider that the other center back of the starting XI, France’s Raphaël Varane, is creating lots of interest in the English Premier League.

Recently, Bayern Munich signed 22-year-old Dayot Upamecano, from RB Leipzig and France’s national team. He was not the main target, but he was indeed an expected name. The biggest candidate seemed to be another player from the German giants: David Alaba. But apparently, Zidane now is looking for a man who is now under the orders of Pep Guardiola in Manchester City.

In 2018 winter transfer market, Manchester City paid €65 million ($78 million) to Athletic Bilbao for Aymeric Laporte. The French-Basque signed a contract extension one year after and his current link expires on June 30, 2025. As per Transfermarkt Real Madrid could buy him for $72.6 million, but it won’t be easy.
