Mauricio Pochettino is one of the managers who has enjoyed affection from the media and hardly gets criticised for his failings. At Tottenham, he got away with managing a talented squad for five years and failing to win any trophy, not even a league cup.

He was sacked at Tottenham in December 2019 and replaced with José Mourinho who has also been sacked. He was appointed PSG manager this January, his predecessor Thomas Tuchel has gone to Chelsea and won the Champions League.

Paris Saint Germain have won seven of the last nine Ligue 1 titles and want a manager who can deliver the Champions League. They made the finals in 2020 with Tuchel and lost. They were eliminated in the semi final last year and have started this season mixed up despite the attacking talents at Pochettino's disposal.

PSG have appeared this season like a team that is not drilled but rather have relied on some players' individual brilliance and rare magic moments to win games. Beyond that, they have produced very tasteless displays which has made many believe Pochettino would be sacked soon, and also proves that he is not the one for the big occasion.
