Some years ago, Real Madrid got the signing of who was maybe the best wonderkid around. He had made his national team debut with only 15 years old, and every top team in Europe was trying to convince him. Finally he chose the Blancos, but things did not go as expected.

After some successful loans, he entered definitely into the first team. But Zinedine Zidane is not counting on him so much as expected. And Pep Guardiola, soccer enemy of Zidane, said that if he had this wonderkid under him, he would make him become the best in the world like he did with Lionel Messi at FC Barcelona.

That was said by Jan Age Fjortoft, a former Norwegian player who is very close to Martin Odegaard's father. Guardiola wanted to sign Odegaard when he was managing Bayern Munich, and told Fjortoft he had to bring that kid to Munich. But among the options the youngster had, the chosen one was Real Madrid.

Odegaard chose that club and rejected Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Arsenal, because they did not have a second team like the Blancos. In that second team, key for his development, Zidane was the coach at that time. But now they are both in the first team, the Norwegian has no place and has spent a whole month without stepping on a pitch.
