Pep Guardiola led Manchester City to their first Premier League win over Manchester United since 2019 and in the process failed to make a single substitution in the match due to clearly dominating the match.

It was not the first time Pep Guardiola will go 90 minutes without making a substitution despite being a leading voice for the implementation of five substitute rules. He last did it in a 2-0 over Fulham in November 2020.

He defended the decision by saying he wants players to play a full 90 minutes because they won't play the next game. "Yes, I wanted the guys to play 90 minutes and most of them are not going to play Wednesday and the guys who didn't play today will play Wednesday. I decided to play 90 minutes with these guys and a fresh 90 minutes for the rest of the players. After that we will see the best selection for the next games." He said.

The win further dents the ambition of their city rivals Manchester United and puts more pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who could be shown the exit in a matter of time.
