Manchester City is almost set to lose Sergio Agüero on a free transfer by summer’s transfer market. The Argentinian striker is just four months away from turning 33 years old. Pep Guardiola knows it’s likely that the club legend departs at the end of the season, and he is already looking into different possibilities to replace him.
Agüero is all-time top scorer in Manchester City’s history, after putting his name to 256 goals in 379 games since he arrived for 2011-2012 season. His biggest memory is netting the goal the club needed to win the title in his first session playing against Queens Park Rangers in injury time. Now, given he’s approaching the end of his career, the club has a non-official but known deal.

In a sign of gratitude, the club seems to have just let Agüero what he wants to do and simply follow his will, no matter if that even means departing. Meanwhile, in Argentina, the fans of his childhood club Independiente dream with a comeback. It does not look so realistic yet, but it’s almost sure he will play a season there before retiring. As for Guardiola, he knows who to go for now. And his reported market value is just €15 million ($18.15 million).
According to talkSPORT’s journalist Adrian Durham, the chosen one is Patrick Bamford. The 27-year-old striker was bought by Chelsea in 2012 winter, but never made it to the first team. He spent five years on loan in different Premier League and Championship clubs until arriving with Marcelo Bielsa for 2018-2019 season to Leeds United. He has scored 12 goals in 22 games in the current season.
