Xavi Hernandez is set to join the league of club legends to have managed their former clubs when he returns to the dugout at Camp Nou next month. In the meantime, Barcelona B manager Sergi Bajuan will take charge as interim.

Xavi played with Pep Guardiola as a player at Barcelona and also played under him when Guardiola was manager between 2008 to 2012. Xavi formed a feared trio with Andres Iniesta and Lionel Messi and won 14 trophies in four years of Guardiola including two UEFA Champions League.

"I don't know what's going to happen. In case [Xavi is appointed Barcelona coach], I don't have any doubts he's ready to do the job. He knows the game, he has passion and I'm pretty sure he has more experience now than I had when I took over." Guardiola said of Xavi.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti who beat Barcelona in El Clasico also commented on Xavi. “I know him very well as a player and I wish him the best as a coach.” he said of the player he faced for two seasons as Real Madrid boss for the first time between 2013 to 2015.
