Manchester United are plunging into real time disaster under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the club's hierarchy are backing him despite the struggles both in finances and in emotional support, a situation that is not so common in football, were it to be Chelsea the manager would be out of job already.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was hired in 2018 as a replacement for José Mourinho after results went poor and after a 3-1 loss to Liverpool but after a much worse result Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will still continue at the club. Does the Manchester United board know what we don't know? Does Solskjaer work for free? Certainly not.
He recently signed a new contract that puts his yearly salary to £10.4 million and a staggering £200,000 per week more than 16 other managers in the league and even more than many players in the league yet the team still turned out a very terrible result like a home loss to a rival.
If Ole is sacked today, the club will lay him a severance package of about £20m because he still has about two years left on his contract, could this be why they are yet to let him go? The payout should not be a problem for a club like Manchester United to sack a manager hurting the club's prestige.
