Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has received the maximum support from the club's hierarchy since he took over at the club in 2018 after José Mourinho was sacked. He was first appointed on an interim basis but was made permanent and has received two contract renewals, the recent one came at the beginning of the season.

He is currently on £10.4m per season and has a contract till June 2024 which makes him one of the highest paid managers in the league. It also makes it very expensive to sack him as his severance package would be too huge considering his lucrative contract and length of the contract.

The club has won just two of the last seven games and recently lost 4-2 to Leicester in the most embarrassing way possible which has made Solskjaer to be under immense pressure to turn things around. Manchester United play Atalanta next in the UEFA Champions League, the match has two implications; 1. It will decide if United will go through in the Champions League. 2. It puts more pressure on Ole.

The Norwegian is set to pocket over £20m if he is sacked by the club, a little lesser than what his predecessor Jose Mourinho was paid when he was sacked, Mourinho received £25m after he was sacked by United. He was also paid £16m by Tottenham Hotspur and is currently working with Roma.
