Manchester United have not won a trophy under head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since he took charge of the club in December 2018. The club continues to bankroll him with contract renewals and new signings but he is yet to produce a single trophy.

He lost in five semifinals before eventually making the UEFA Europa League final last year which Manchester United lost on penalties to Villarreal. The club's chances of silverware this season has been reduced by 25% having been eliminated in the Carabao Cup.

The club's squad was boosted by the acquisition of top defender Raphaël Varane from Real Madrid, £73m Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund as well as the return of Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo impacted the team in his first few games but the team has collapsed in the last four games with one win, one draw and two losses.

The United players who went on international duties had brilliant games and numbers for their clubs with Cristiano Ronaldo breaking records. The French trio of Paul Pogba, Raphaël Varane and Anthony Martial won the UEFA Nations League with France leading to questions on if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the problem.
