In December 2018, Manchester United fans breathed a sigh of relief when former striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replaced José Mourinho after things got really awful under the Portuguese manager. There was a quick turnaround in results and pattern of play and the so-called modern attacking football was born at Old Trafford.

Solskjaer who was hired on an interim role was made permanent manager and soon started ushering in new signings starting with £80m Harry Maguire and £54m Aaron Wan-Bissaka and other expensive signings, fast forward almost four years he has spent about £450m with nothing tangible to point to in achievements.

The club keeps rolling out the funds while it gets into nothing but excuses of what player is needed next. After over £100m in the summer, the results have gotten worse and more funds will be out soon for further signings in January with £70m reportedly available for a defensive midfielder.

This begs the question of what the club really needs, if £70m is spent in January, it will take transfer fees since Solskjaer took charge to over £500m. No team has a perfect team and his quest to have a perfect squad shows ineptness, what the clubs needs is a managerial change and not more signings.
