The coach of the Mexican soccer team, Gerardo Martino spoke at a press conference where he was questioned about the near future of the national team, where the technician did not keep anything, revealing the entire future of the team, ensuring that the Olympic games will be the top priority. On the last FIFA break of the year that was played in November, the Mexican team won two important victories against Japan and South Korea, managing to close the year in a very positive way.
The next thing that follows for the team is the qualifiers for the Qatar 2022 World Cup. The national coach assured that he will have a lot of work with Jaime Lozano, who is the coach of the U23 team, which will participate in the Olympics in Tokyo. The Argentinian pointed out that between the two, they are planning the best team and looking for the best possible balance. On the other hand, Martino pointed out that there will be many international competitions in the year.
So the conjunction of the two national teams will be important. Well, there will be Final Four, Olympics and Gold Cup. The technician was very clear in saying that the priority will be for the Olympic games and thus look for the second Golden medal. The main agreement between the two coaches will be to see who will be the older players that will participate in the Olympics, as those two, will not be in the Gold Cup.
Another agreement is that coach Lozano will wait to see the list of the Gold Cup, where Martino will try not to call many players under 23 and thus give Lozano a higher rank of choice in the moment to make his list, that will be after Martino´s Gold Cup list. Finally, martino clarified that the priority is for the U23 team and as soon as you finish the competitions, again the priority will be the qualifiers for the World Cup.
