Barcelona had enough of Dutch manager Ronald Koeman and showed him the way out of the club on Wednesday after the loss to Rayo Vallecano. Koeman was sacked after the club's worst start to a La Liga and UEFA Champions League season.

His replacement was not immediately announced as Barcelona's choice, former captain Xavi Hernandez is engaged with Al Sadd and will take a while to negotiate his release from the club. Barcelona B manager Sergi Bajuan was installed as interim manager until a replacement is found or Xavi is free.

Bajuan named a similar squad to what Koeman named in his final games at the club, with American right back Sergino Dest deployed in an attacking position on the wing, a decision that did not pay off as there are more recognised attacking options on the bench and a tweak in formation to suit the players available could also be done.

Koeman could have been one of the problems but he is not the only problem of the club. A new club trying to settle in, and has to deal with financial situations of the club, the departure of Lionel Messi as well as an aging squad and contract situations. He may have been one of the problems but not the only problem.
