FC Barcelona fired head coach Ronald Koeman after the defeat to Rayo Vallecano and appointed Barcelona B coach Sergi Bajuan as the interim until a new head coach is found.
Barcelona are interested in having former captain Xavi Hernandez as head coach but it will not come cheap as he is still tied to the club on a two years contract, the club made this known via Twitter communication. "In response to what’s circulating recently, the #AlSadd management reaffirms that Xavi has a two-year contract with the club and is fully focused on the team’s upcoming matches, to maintain our lead at the top of the league and to defend the title." The club wrote on Twitter.
“There is no official offer on the table from any party. Any club that has a bit of professionalism is supposed to negotiate with the other side if it wants a player or coach who is under contract.” Al Sadd media officer wrote on Twitter.
In case Al Sadd is successful in blocking Xavi's move to Barcelona, Ajax coach Erik Ten Hag is one of the possible replacements Barcelona could be looking at, with Antonio Conte also an option despite being linked to Manchester United in recent days. River Plate manager Marcelo Gallardo is also an option.
