One of Diego Maradona’s most renowned phrases said: “I’m one of the very few people who knows much must does the World Cup trophy weight”. Only 23 soccer players have such privilege every four years. One of that selected group has been chosen by Thomas Tuchel as the next player he wants to bring to Chelsea.

The German coach has recently taken over the role at Stamford Bridge, after Frank Lampard was sacked last month following a very bad streak in the English Premier League. Since his arrival the club seems to have drastically improved, following two wins and a draw without conceding a single goal in his first three matches.

Despite what can be considered a solid defensive record, Tuchel wants to reinforce the club’s defense next to Cesar Azpilicueta, Thiago Silva, Antonio Rüdiger, and Marcos Alonso. After having played two Eurocups in 2012 and 2016, and three World Cups in 2010, 2014 and 2018, the coach thinks Germany’s Jerome Boateng is the one to sign in the transfer market.

At the moment, 32-year-old Boateng is in Qatar, waiting for Bayern Munich’s debut in the FIFA World Club Cup against African champions, Egypt’s Al Ahly. The match will be played on Sunday afternoon, the winner will go through to the Final. He will finish his contract with the club next June 30, so he could arrive on a free transfer for next season. He played all matches from the start in the 2014 World Cup which Germany won over Argentina in Brazil.
