Santos Laguna's sue against Disney could set a precedent in Liga MX

Santos Laguna is claiming money from Disney accordingly agreed before between both parts. The club thought the company went too far and decided to solve the problems on court. Disney is currently pointed as fraudulent and is demanded by Santos an interesting sum of money as amends.

After Disney acquired Fox Sports a short time ago, every club from Liga MX had to renegotiate their contracts for TV rights. This resulted in the company being in debt with more than half of the league, and Santos Laguna even claimed they were lied to so the company could avoid a payment.

So Santos decided to go straight to court. The claim is not only they were the victims of Disney fraud, but also that Disney resaled their TV rights without their consent. It was also found out that some Disney executives offered the Fox Sports’ channels at suspicious prices.

The consequences of all this is that some cable and satellite TV companies from Mexico could lose Fox Sports, and Santos Laguna could be the first of many Liga MX teams claiming the money they are owed.  This could be the beginning of a long legal battle between Disney and some clubs.
