The future of Memphis Depay was defined. For now, the forward is concentrating on what the Dutch team can do in the European Championship, and when the competition ends, he will have to join FC Barcelona, which this Saturday announced his signing in style.

“FC Barcelona and Memphis Depay have reached an agreement to join the Club, once their contract with Olympique de Lyon has ended. The player will sign a contract until the end of the 2022-23 season", explained the Catalan institution in a statement. In Barcelona's statement, the versatility, technique and power of Memphis Depay, 27, stood out. In addition to Olympique Lyon, he also went through PSG Eindhoven, where he won three titles, and Manchester United, a club with which he raised two cups.

“In his last year in Ligue 1 with OL, Depay has approached his highest scoring figures. The new Barça signing has occupied the silver position, with 20 goals, in the director section of the 2020/21 French league. But he has held the gold position in assists; a total of 12 goal passes have been named after Memphis Depay ”, added Barcelona.

With Depay, there are already four Barcelona incorporations for next season. Earlier, the team that will continue to be led by Ronald Koeman welcomed striker Sergio Agüero, defender Eric García and full-back Emerson. In the following season, Barcelona -which still does not define the future of its star Lionel Messi- will seek to raise the cup again in LaLiga and tempt the ‘Orejona’, which has been elusive since 2015.
