In January 2020 when Barcelona sacked Ernesto Valverde, it was the beginning of what will soon be a trend at the club. Valverde's sacking was not justified, he was top of the league having won the La Liga title in his first two seasons, nearly going unbeaten one. He was reportedly fired for not playing the team's tiki taka philosophy.

He was replaced by former Real Betis manager Quique Setien who brought back a bit of tiki taka to the club but fell second to Real Madrid in the title race despite taking over the club at first position. His fate was sealed when Barca were trashed 8-2 by Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Club legend Ronald Koeman replaced Setien at the beginning of last season and won the Copa Del Rey but finished third in La Liga despite having the chance of winning the league title with just three games to spare. The club had enough of him in the second season and fired him two weeks ago and he's now set to be replaced by another club legend Xavi Hernandez.

Ernesto Valverde's sacking cost Barcelona €11m even though the Spaniard let go of some of it to the club. His replacement Quique Setien was fired only months into his appointment and was paid €4m. Ronald Koeman's sacking will cost the club €12, which makes a total of €27m on managerial sacking in two years.
