West Ham has been given approval for expansion of the Olympic stadium, the Hammers will be having a home in the excess of 62,500 at the end of the project and that will be the biggest stadium in London after Tottenham, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium which has a 62,303 capacity.
And Arsenal Emirate stadium with 60,206 capacity. The expansion will make the stadium take over both Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Emirate as the biggest ground in London. The Club Vice-chairman said the expansion was necessary to give more fans the opportunity to watch the team after the stadium had been sold out on different occasions since the fans returned to the stadium.
The application to increase the matchday capacity will give an even greater number of our fans the opportunity to watch our exciting team in action in person,' West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady said. The Club moved out of Upton Park in 2016 to London 2012 Olympic Stadium after much deliberation.
The initial plan is to expand the stadium to 67,000 capacity and according to the Head Coach David Notes everyone is working to move the club forward. 'Everyone here is doing everything we can to grow and develop this football club, on and off the pitch, for the benefit of our supporters, and we all feel that things are moving in the right direction,' Moyes said.'The supporters being back has been fantastic and the atmosphere they have created, with 60,000 in the stadium, has been right up there every game. 'Having more fans in here cheering the team on will make it even better for us all and we are really looking forward to welcoming more of our young supporters and families to London Stadium.'
