FC Barcelona are beginning to feel the void created by the departure of Lionel Messi after the club were unable to sell all the tickets for their first group gake of the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League season against FC Bayern Munich.

Fans are now allowed in stadiums in Spain though only 40% of the stadium capacity are allowed and the club put 40,000 tickets on sale but just short of that was sold; "Although the just short of 40,000 souls created a wonderful Tuesday night atmosphere, they were sadly not treated to the result they wanted." the club report said.

The reason for the situation could be the departure of the beloved Lionel Messi who the club was unable to register with La Liga due to financial issues, a situation which has taken its toll on the club in many areas as fans are growing in lack of interest in matches.

The last time Barca faced Bayern before tonight was a 8-2 demolition in 2020, and with injuries to Sergio Aguero, Ousmane Demebele, Ansu Fati and Martin Braithwaite, the fans probably felt there would be nothing to look out for in the match. Whatever the reason is, it is bad for the club who would be looking to sell tickets to generate revenue and ease their financial woes.
