The Mexican forward is having a wonderful season after recovering from an injury that left him out of several matches. A huge group of LAFC fans were afraid that he would never become the player that he was before. But now, the problems are about money, not about his performance on the pitch.
Vela did not start his career at Chivas, his first club was Ko Cha Wolis from Cancún, Quintana Roo. He played there until 2003 and almost two decades after, the club is suing the player about his training and formation rights. The lawsuit will arrive at the Court of Arbitration for Sport, known as TAS in México.
According to the articles 20 and 21 of FIFA about the transfers of players, all clubs that would receive a compensation each time he gets transferred until he turns 23. This only applies if the club is the very first club where the player initiated his career. That’s why Ko Cha Wolis is demanding this money.
Carlos Vela turned 23 in 2021 and before that he played for Chivas, Arsenal, West Bromwich, Salamanca, Osasuna and Real Sociedad, so Ko Cha Wolis would receive a lot of money. How would this affect the image of the player? He should have told the clubs that this could happen in a future.
