Jill Ellis, the former United States Women's National Team coach, is on the list of candidates to take over the DC United coaching position and replacing Ben Olsen, who was sacked after a decade due to the teams bad results this season. If Ellis gets the job, she will make history as becoming the first woman to train a Major League Soccer team.

Ellis, 54, who was born in England, is known for leading the United States Women's National Team in the titles they won at the 2015 and 2019 World Cups. During the five years she coached the USWNT, she achieved a record of 106 wins, 7 draws and only 19 losses. There are vey few coaches in the United States -if any-, men or women, which numbers as good as that ones.

After winning the 2019 World Cup in France, Ellis decided to stepped down form the National Team. Since then, Ellis has been working as an ambassador for the United States Soccer Federation. Although she has never led a men's team, she said that she is open to it and that she would not rule anything out.

She left her country when she was 14 years old. Her father, John, took his family to Virginia in the late 1970s. It was there that Jill was able to start playing soccer, because there were no women's teams in England. Although she graduated in English literature, her dreams were always related to soccer. That is why she started working as an assistant coach and did not stop until she became the coach of the U.S. Women's Team.
