Forward Trinity Rodman and the Washington Spirit agreed to a contract extension, making Rodman the highest-paid player in the history of the National Women’s Soccer League, her agency announced Wednesday.

Rodman made an instant impact in the last season, scoring in her debut in the NWSL Challenge Cup. Her combined seven goals and seven assists in all competitions led the league, and she was named NWSL Rookie of the Year.

According to Sportico, the four-year contract is valued at $1.1 million.

When she was first drafted, Rodman caught attention for her last name but pushed back against the narratives linking her sporting talent to her father, instead crediting her mother, Michelle Rodman, for her competitiveness while vowing to make a name for herself.

How much would Trinity Rodman earn?

Rodman will make a $281,000 base salary annually, which is more than Alex Morgan's and Megan Rapinoe's $250,000 NWSL salaries.

When Rodman joined the league, he signed a three-year contract with an average base salary of $42,000 plus housing and bonuses, in line with what other NWSL members received.

The Washington Spirit were allowed to afford to pay Rodman above the league's maximum salary using allocation money, which is an expense allowance beyond the teams' salary cap and budget ceilings.

Trinity was recently called to the USWNT

Trinity Rodman was one of 25 players called up by USWNT head coach Vlatko Andonovski for the team's first training camp of the year in Austin, Texas, from Jan. 19-28. The head coach said the camp will help him determine the roster for next month's SheBelieves Cup, where the United States are the defending champions.
