2022 NWSL Challenge Cup schedule announced

The National Women's Soccer League announced today the complete schedule for the upcoming NWSL Challenge Cup 2022.

The third annual competition will kick off on March 18. Two expansion clubs will be added, as the league expanded to 12 clubs with the additions of Angel City FC and San Diego Wave FC, and the two will play their inaugural match against one another on March 19 in Fullerton, California. 

The 2022 NWSL Challenge Cup consists of three regional groups of four teams. The Central Region, with the Chicago Red Stars, Houston Dash, Kansas City Current, and Racing Louisville FC. The East Region includes NJ/NY Gotham FC, North Carolina Courage, Orlando Pride, and Washington Spirit. Angel City FC, OL Reign, Portland Thorns FC, and San Diego Wave FC make up the West Region. 

The groups will compete in two-legged matches before the semifinal round and the NWSL Challenge Cup final on Saturday, May 7.
