Both teams are looking to bolster their defensive line in the summer transfer window.

As reported by Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea have re-entered the bidding for the services of Milan Skriniar for next season aiming to improve their defense after the departure of Antonio Rüdiger and Andreas Christensen.

The Blues, with the help of their new owners and Thomas Tuchel, want to build a team that can compete all the important titles next season and the defense is one of the areas they urgently need to reinforce due to multiple departures. Matthijs De Ligt is the main target, but the Slovakian has become a new piece on the club's agenda.

Chelsea maintain excellent relations with Inter having recently closed the deal for the loan of Lukaku, who will undergo medicals with the Nerazzurri. At the beginning of negotiations for the Belgian striker, Chelsea had sought names in the Inter squad, including the defender. Now the English club have opened a separate discussion, in which they have expressed their interest in the Slovakian defender.

Milan Skriniar has become one of Italy's best center-backs in recent years. His contract expires in the summer of 2023 and he does not want to renew, so his departure from Inter Milan is imminent. His situation has attracted the attention of several major clubs such as PSG, which is the main candidate to get his services despite the presence of Chelsea in the bidding.

Inter’s huge price tag on Skriniar

Inter Milan would be willing to sell him for 70 million euros, so either of the two clubs will have to make a significant investment to close his signing and strengthen their defense. Chelsea know that they will have to move quickly to try to take the signing away from the Parisian side, but their priority is to reach an agreement with Juventus for De Ligt.
