After the disappointing 2021 that Mexico National Team had, where they went from standing 9th in FIFA World Ranking to falling to the 14th spot, even behind US Soccer MNT, Gerardo Martino’s continuity as El Tri coach has been questioned by everyone.

Martino requested these luxuries when he arrived in El Tri, but he doesn’t care for them

He doesn’t have guaranteed his position with El Tri, even after the 2-1 victory over Jamaica on Thursday, as Mexico National Team currently stand third on CONCACAF Qualifiers, although things can change in the upcoming games against Costa Rica and Panama.

But that doesn’t seem to worry the 59-year-old Argentinian former offensive midfielder, as rumors suggest he already has a plan B if his stint with El Tri comes to an end after the current World Cup Qualifiers match window.

 

What’s Martino’s plan if he parts ways with El Tri?

Rumors suggest that Martino is on the mix to become the next San José Earthquakes coach when Matías Almeyda leaves, as the former Chivas coach is not comfortable in the MLS. Almeyda signed a 3-year contract worth $6 million, something that Martino might receive if he signs with the Quakes.
