Although reports have suggested that Napoli is willing to sell Hirving “Chucky” Lozano over the summer, the Mexican right-winger is looking to negotiate a contract extension until 2026 before the 2022-23 Serie A Season begins, according to reports from Italian sports journalist Fabio Mandarini.

Lozano knows that his best shot for making it into the final roster of Mexico National Team for Qatar 2022 while playing at a high level is to remain at Napoli, where he already knows the team and a second year with Luciano Spalletti on the dugout will help him improve his performances after adapting during his first season as coach.

But his stay at Napoli not only will benefit him, as he could serve as a link for the next goalkeeper that the Azzurri want now that David Ospina is one month away from becoming a free agent and with no signs of wanting to renew with the Azzurri.

Napoli is after a Mexican goalkeeper

According to reports from sports media outlet AreaNapoli, the Azzurri are looking for a new goalkeeper that can replace Ospina, and among the players that they have scouted, Carlos Acevedo is one of the top candidates.

The 26-year-old goalkeeper currently plays for Liga MX side Santos Laguna, but he’s been linked in the past to some European clubs given the outstanding performances that he’s had with Los Guerreros and with Mexico National Team, where he already has two caps.

Acevedo is under contract with Santos until 2025 but given that he’s been followed by teams like Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven, it looks complicated that he’ll be able to finish his contract. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is set at $5.5 million, an affordable sum for a team like Napoli, who needs to strengthen as they will play Champions League next season.
