Although Carlos Vela hadn’t played a single game with Mexico National Team since they got eliminated in the round of 16 by Brazil in Russia 2018, it’s no lie that he still is one of the best active Mexican players and that his numbers could be used in El Tri.

El Tri wants Club Puebla’s coach to replace Gerardo Martino

His retirement arrives amidst a wave of rumors placing him back in El Tri, but he decided to close the doors to the possibility. On the other hand, Javier “Chicharito” Hernández, who is on a similar situation than Vela, is willing to return to Mexico National Team if Gerardo “Tata” Martino calls him.

Martino could use a striker like Hernández, who scored 17 goals the past season with LA Galaxy, showing that he regained his shape and is ready to show the best version of himself on the pitch, but “Tata” doesn’t agree with the lifestyle he has, as he believes is a distraction for him and everyone on El Tri camp.

But if rumors are true, “Tata” Martino could have found the player that El Tri desperately needs, as Real Madrid has been linked to the Mexican Argentinean winger Luka Romero, who is called to be one of the best players in the world in the near future.

Who is Luka Romero?

Luka Romero was born in Mexico in 2004, when his father was playing in Liga MX, which is why he has both Mexican and Argentinean citizenships. His family established in Spain when he was three years old, giving him a third citizenship.

He currently plays for Serie A side SS Lazio, team that he joined for the current season out of Spanish side Real Mallorca, club that he was part of since 2015, when he joined their academy teams. Luka Romero is the youngest player to ever debut in both La Liga and Serie A.

Could he play for Mexico National Team?

The 17-year-old offensive midfielder, who can also play as a winger in both sides of the pitch, hasn’t debuted yet with any National Team senior squad, which is why he could still represent Mexico National Team, although he’s been part of Argentina National Team academy teams and has stated that he wants to play for La Albiceleste.
