Mexico National Team’s participation in the 2022 FIFA World Cup was jeopardized after last year’s results, when El Tri lost back-to-back games in CONCACAF Qualifiers against Canada and USMNT, that currently has them standing third, one point behind the Stars and Stripes and two from Canada.

The difference is minimal, and a good streak could help Mexico National Team recover the first spot in CONCACAF, something that FMF is hoping to accomplish in the upcoming games against Jamaica, Costa Rica, and Panama.

According to reports, Yon de Luisa and FMF already conditioned Martino, who will have to earn at least 7 out of the 9 possible points in the upcoming FIFA match window. But just in case it doesn’t happen, they already have a plan B to take over El Tri’s last games in order to earn a spot for Qatar.

Who could replace Gerardo Martino as El Tri coach?

After the amazing season he had, where he helped Atlas win his second Liga MX title after 70 years, Diego Cocca is FMF first choice to take the position, knowing he’s motivated and that already knows Mexican soccer. But if he doesn’t work, Miguel Herrera could have a second stint.
