Gerardo Martino has decided to leave out of Mexico National Team one of his sacred cows

Gerardo “Tata” Martino is trying to prepare the team for the game against Argentina that they will play in the group stage of Qatar 2022, which is why they also agreed to play against Ecuador a few days after the game against Uruguay.

But the friendly games will also be used by the Argentine coach to filter the players that don’t have the level to be playing in the national team, as he finally understood that he needs to call only the ones that are playing at a high level.

Who are the players that won’t make it to Qatar?

According to reports from W Deportes, Martino realized that at least three players that were usuals on the roster during the CONCACAF Qualifiers, haven’t performed at a level worthy of the national team, which is why he’s considering leaving them out of the roster for the World cup.

Among those players, the most evident is Jesús Gallardo, as the CF Monterrey defender has even lost his protagonist role in Rayados given the bad performances he’s had in the last year, especially when Javier Aguirre was still coaching Monterrey.

Along him, Néstor Araujo and Héctor Herrera are also walking over thin ice, as the former is a regular with his team but with El Tri doesn’t perform as well, and the latter decided to leave one of the best leagues in the world to join the MLS just a few months before the debut of Mexico in the World Cup.
