Although he has yet to debut in Premier League, Mikel Arteta already gave him his first call-up with the first team and has considered him for the preseason that Arsenal will have around the United States, same that he’ll join once El Tri summer games finish, as he’s looking to give him a more prominent role.

But even if the Mexican international will have his place in the preseason, Arsenal is considering letting him go thanks to FC Barcelona, now that it was revealed the interest of the Gunners in one of Barcelona’s midfielders that will take the place destined for Flores.

Who is the player that could steal his place?

According to reports, Arsenal has entered the race to sign Frenkie de Jon now that Manchester United has agreed to terms with the Blaugranas, although both teams will have to convince de Jong to leave La Liga, as he’s said that he feels comfortable playing in Barcelona and doesn’t plan to leave anytime soon.

But if he ends up arriving at Emirates Stadium, the gunners are planning on sending Marcelo Flores on a loan to a smaller club, either in Premier League or Championship, where he can earn experience and regularity, something that he won’t have with de Jong on the roster.

Although Arsenal is looking to give him more playing time, and the best way for him to earn it is leaving, they know of the talent that he has, which is why they are not considering selling him and will only let him go on a loan, as Arteta has plans for him and the future of Arsenal.
