But just a couple weeks after his announcement, he’s still a topic of conversation, as he already knows what he’ll do when his contract with Los Angeles FC ends, when the 2022 MLS Season, which will be his fifth year with the Black & Gold, is over.

At least five Liga MX teams were interested in acquiring “El Bombardero” given that he’ll become a free agent, either on the summer or at the end of the year. Those clubs included Club América, Cruz Azul, Chivas, Tigres and Monterrey.

Will he arrive in Liga MX?

Carlos Vela has decided that his stint with LAFC will be over after this season, it doesn’t matter if they become MLS champions or not, although he wants to leave Los Angeles with a trophy. But according to reports, Carlos Vela doesn’t plan to arrive in Liga MX.

What will Carlos Vela do?

Instead, he has two different options. The first one will be returning to Europe, as he knows he still has two or three years left to play at a high level, and either is in La Liga, Premier League or even Serie A or Primeira Liga, Carlos Vela still can be a great addition to any team.

His second option, if there’s no offer from a European team, will be the MLS, although he’s not planning on staying in Banc of California Stadium. He’s considering moving near to David Beckham, as he thinks Inter Miami CF would be a good club to continue his career, and a great place to raise his kid.

Carlos Vela’s numbers with LAFC

Carlos Vela arrived in LAFC in 2018 as a Designated Player, after six seasons playing in La Liga, for Real Sociedad. In the four seasons he’s been part of the Black & Gold, Vela has played 100 official games, in which he’s scored 67 goals and assisted 30 times.
