The duel was quite hard-fought and both countries showed that they have players at the level of the best in the world, however, Louis van Gaal's team was superior.

And the outstanding figure of the match was undoubtedly Steven Bergwijn, who shone with a brace against the Danes, who were up to the challenge but did not pose much of a threat to the Dutch.

Although the squad coached by Kasper Hjulmand put up a fight and with goals from Jannik Vestergaard and Christian Eriksen gave battle to the Clockwork Orange, Van Gaal's team came to the game and were relentless with the visitors.

What were the goals of the game?

The Netherlands was very much on the attack in the first minutes of the game, putting Denmark's defense in trouble.

And they held out as long as they could, until the 16th minute, when Steven Bergwijn scored after heading in a cross from a very difficult position, sending the ball just inside the left post.

Mark Flekken could do nothing about it and the score was 1-0, but the Danes were not about to sit back and take the result lying down.

In the 20th minute, Jannik Vestergaard also headed spectacularly to make the score 1-1, after a brilliant team move.

But in the 29th minute, Nathan Aké made scored 2-1 when, after a cross in the middle of the opponent's area, he rose up in the air to head the ball past Flekken.

The intensity in the match did not stop and as a result, the Netherlands were awarded a penalty when they attempted a frontal attack on goal when a Danish defender had to sweep but was late to the ball, thus awarding a penalty to Van Gaal's team.

The man chosen for the spot-kick was none other than Memphis Depay, who confidently shot towards the right post, deceiving Flekken to make it 3-1.

This goal would be answered with another in the 47th minute, but this time it would come from the Danish side, when Christian Eriksen received a pass and without hesitation made an unstoppable shot that went into the left corner of the goal.

With this goal, the score was 3-2, and everyone thought that this would be the final result of the match, but Steven Bergwijn did not agree with that.

And so in the 71st minute, he took the ball, headed to the rival area on the left flank, and when everyone thought he was going to dribble or send a pass, he took an excellent shot against which Flekken could do nothing.

With his goal, the score was 4-2 and the Dutch took the victory in this intense encounter.

This match also presented a milestone as it marked the return of Eriksen, who returned to play for Denmark ten months after suffering a heart attack at the European Championship.
