AC Milan couldn't be able to keep their winning streak and draw 3-3 with AS Roma in an electrifying game for Week 5 of the Serie A. The team coached by Stefano Pioli couldn't count with their starting goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma, because last night he tested positive for Covid-19. His replacement, Cipiran Tatarusanu, played very bad. How many millions did AC Milan's starting line up cost without Gigi?

Lest make a comparison with the starting line up Stefano Pioli placed for the UEFA Europa League opener against Celtic last Thursday. The team which started that game was: Donnarumma; Diogo Dalot, Simon Kjaer, Alessio Romagnoli, Theo Hernández; Sandro Tonali, Franck Kessié; Samu Castillejo, Rade Krunic, Brahim Díaz; and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.  According to Transfermarket.com, that team costs 255,5 million euros, of which 60 million are Donnarumma by himself.

For today's game, besides not having Donnaruma, Pioli also added some changes to the team: he benched Dalot, Tonali, Castillejo, Krunic and Díaz and placed Davide Calabria, Ismael Bennacer, Alexis Saelemaekers, Hakan Calhanoglu -who couldn't play against Celtic due to an injury, but is a regular starter in the team- and Rafael Leao. Today's team's cost is 212,7 million euros, mora than 40 million less that last Thursday's team.

In addition, if only the players that did't played today are taken into account, the six of the cost 137 million, while their six replacements today only cost 94,2 million. Moreover, if it's considered that Calhanoglu is a regular starter -so neither Calhanoglu or Krunic are taken into account- the value of the five starters on Thursday that today were replacements is of 130,5 million, while their replacements only cost 64,7 million.

This means that the has been a stepback of value of around 50 million euros between Thursday's UEFA Europa League's team and today's team. Of course, one of those changes was compulsory as Donnarumma could not play today, but the other five were made by Stefano Pioli. And they certainly didn't help the team to keep on their winning path.
