With 16 years of career, all of them for FC Barcelona, Carles Puyol is, alongside Xavi and over Lionel Messi and Andrés Iniesta, the most important player the club had in the decade of 2000. His qualities as a leader made him became the captain of a successful club that ended winning everything.

That place of privilege in FC Barcelona meant 593 matches for the club he loves the most, At some point, that number was enough to be the player with the most appearances ever for the team. But the above mentioned surpassed him (767, 746 and 674 respectively), and now another player of the golden generation of La Masía is going to do the same.

That player is, naturally, Sergio Busquets. Busi reached the 593 games yesterday versus Levante and will be, for some few days, on level with Puyol until the next Barcelona match, where Busquets will be the fourth player with the most matches on his back for the Culés.

Busquets broke into the first team in 2008 thanks to Pep Guardiola and never left the starting eleven since. As a defensive midfielder, Busquets won 31 titles with his club, and three of them were of the UEFA Champions League (2009, 2011 and 2015). Also, in these 593 matches he scored 15 goals.
