One year has passed since the death of Diego Maradona and while the entire football world remembers him with emotion, love and gratitude, the cause investigating his death continues its course and as the Argentine journalist Nelson Castro explained, the idol's body is buried without his heart.

Maradona's organ, along with his liver and kidneys, were extracted on the same day of his death and are found in the Department of Pathological Anatomy of the Buenos Aires Police in the city of La Plata, where they arrived on December 2, 2020, a week after his death.

Justice decided that the heart remain in La Plata for study and conservation and after being exhaustively reviewed and dissected, it was preserved entirely in formaldehyde. According to reports, Diego's heart weighed 503 grams, almost twice a normal one.

The autopsy determined that Maradona died due to heart failure and acute lung edema and that his death was not sudden, but that the clots he had and the color of the blood confirmed that it was a slow process.
