Bastian Schweinsteiger could return to the world of football sooner than expected. According to the German newspaper Bild in its online version, the former Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Chicago Fire would be one of the main candidates to become sports director of Eintracht Frankfurt. Fredi Bobic, current head of the Eintracht sports area, seems to have done it with Hertha Berlin and would join the club in the capital in the summer.

"I am drawn to a position where you can really shape a team, where you also have responsibility. I know how to be successful", assured the former midfielder who led Mannschaft during their 2014 World Cup conquest recently. Schweinsteiger hung up his boots in 2019, mostly due to his willingness to spend more time with his wife, former tennis player Ana Ivanovic, and their children.

However, since he left the field of play, he remained linked to the world of football, from a totally different place to the one we were used to, and to which he will obviously get used to from the substitute bench. At the moment, Schweinsteiger is an analyst for Germany's leading television network ARD. He is dedicated to offering his opinion in matches of the German national team or the Pokal, a function that he could leave again shortly to begin his career in the Bundesliga offices. It seems that, for now, he does not care that they are not those of his beloved Bayern Munich.

It should be noted that this will be the first adventure of the former captain of the German team directing a soccer team. The challenge is great, being that it is one of the most important teams in the increasingly strong German league. However, there is no doubt that Bastian knows how to manage a team, and he has made this clear both at Bayern Munich and with the German National Team in his extensive career.
