After Sergio Ramos departure to PSG this season, Real Madrid has yet to find a new replacement for him that can play for over a decade without losing his shaper or seeing his performance diminished from time to time.

Although David Alaba arrived to fill the spot left by Ramos and has established himself as the starter alongside Éder Melitão, with 29 years, he has at most 5 years left playing at that same level, and currently there’s no other defender that can replace him if needed.

If Real Madrid want to guarantee that their defensive side will be protected for the next decade, they should be looking into acquiring a young defender -something that probably will happen next season-, like Piero Hincapié.

Who is Piero Hincapié?

The 20-year-old central defender arrived this season in Bayer Leverkusen out of CA Talleres. The Ecuador international has impressed with his performances in Bundesliga and has improved his market value exponentially, as in just six months it went from $7.25 million -the price paid by Leverkusen to acquire him- to $15 million, and it will only keep rising.

If he keeps up with the good performances, it’s probable that he’s going to be on the move on the next transfer window, which is why Real Madrid has to hurry if they want to acquire a solid defender before his market value skyrockets, or other team acquires him before, like FC Barcelona, as Xavi is interested in forming the youngest possible squad.
