CONCACAF confirms dates and venues for 2022 CONCACAF Scotiabank Champions League Round of 16 games
After the draw, the crossings were defined for the tournament that will bring together 16 of the continent's most important teams in ties that will be played during the month of February.
Concacaf confirmed that the 2022 edition of the region's main club competition, the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League (SCCL), will begin with the first leg of the round of 16 matches involving the 16 participating clubs on February 15-17. The second leg will be played from February 22 to 24.
The round of 16 will be followed by the quarterfinal round-robin matches in March, the semifinals and the first leg final in April, and the second leg final in the first week of May.
The winner of this club competition will be crowned regional club champion and will represent the Confederation at the 2022 FIFA Club World Cup (FCWC).
The reigning SCCL champion is CF Monterrey (MEX), who defeated Club America 1-0 in the 2021 Final. As CONCACAF club champion, Monterrey will represent the region at the FIFA Club World Cup in Abu Dhabi in February 2022.
Concacaf informed that both Cavaly AS and New York City FC will not be able to play in their usual stadiums for their home games in the round of 16 and had to present alternatives that were accepted: the first will play at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, while the second will play at the Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles.
