Ben Olsen was fired from DC United and Jim Curtin, the Philadelphia Union coach, asked the club to pay a tribute in his honor.

DC United and Philadelphia Union are classic on-court rivals, but Coach Jim Curtin said a few warm words to his colleague Ben Olsen after he was fired from DC United. With the firing of Olsen, Curtis became the second longest-running coach of the same team. Curtin made a special request to DC United to honour Ben Olsen.

To many that Jim Curtin has asked DC United to make a statue of Ben Olsen and put it in front of the stadium may seem like a joke, but for the Philadelphia Union manager that request is very serious. Ben Olsen spent more than 10 years before the first team and more than 20 involved in the club and for that reason DC United Stadium should have something to remember him.

Jim Curtin and Ben Olsen have known each other since before they each managed DC United and Philadelphia Union as they shared the academy where they studied to be MLS coaches. According to Curtin, Olsen is a person who is a leader by nature and who knows very well how to lead a team. DC United had already said something similar about Olsen.

Ben Olsen and DC United decided to stop working together as the current DC United campaign is very bad. In addition, in the last five years, DC United has never been able to make the playoffs and fans began to question Olsen's work. Now it remains to wait and see if DC United takes the advice of the Philadelphia Union coach and pays tribute to Olsen.
