While Jose Mourinho hinted at potentially taking over as the manager of the Portugal national team to coaching Cristiano Ronaldo again, the rumors of him joining Chelsea increase as the season is close to its end. Many fans want to see the reunion of Mourinho and Ronaldo, and the London club may consider bringing back Mourinho to the Premier League. Mourinho's salary at his previous club, AS Roma, was worth $12.5 million a year. Chelsea's current manager, Mauricio Pochettino, reportedly earns $13 million a year, but with the results not convincing fans this season, the club may listen and bring in a legendary manager in Mourinho, who wants to coach next season.

Mourinho taking the Portuguese job may not convince him since the salary numbers are nowhere near the Chelsea salary. Portugal's current manager, Roberto Martinez, reportedly earns a salary worth $4 million a year. Mourinho has also coached clubs for over two decades, and the Portuguese coach may not be used to managing games on a few occasions of the year.

The Portuguese manager recently spoke about living close to the Chelsea stadium, Stamford Bridge, and he described the feeling he had when he heard his name being chanted by the fans. Mourinho talked with A Bola and said, "I’ve always kept myself apart from any unethical behavior. I live two minutes from Chelsea’s stadium, from my house, you can hear the goals and people’s demonstrations. The day the stadium started singing my name, I stopped going to football. I have to go to other stadiums."

Mourinho's former player doesn't think he would be a good fit for Chelsea now

Mourinho's former player at Chelsea, William Gallas, spoke about how the current Chelsea team would not be a good fit with the Portuguese manager. Gallas said, "With Jose, you have to give him the right players, it’s that simple. You have to give him warriors and the right players who want to fight and who want to make sacrifices and aren’t scared to suffer. If Chelsea gave him these types of players, he would be a great choice. I don’t know the players so well but I think some of the players aren’t strong enough to work with Mourinho."
