Czech Republic group 1890s Holdings have acquired a stake in Premier League club West Ham that allows them to become a member of the club's board. Daniel Křetínský and his colleague Pavel Horský will join David Sullivan and David Gold.
The Czech billionaires have purchased 27% of the club's total of £600m which is about £160m becoming the second huge investment into a Premier League club after the £300m takeover of Newcastle United by Saudi Arabia PIF.
Daniel Křetínský, 40, is a Czech billionaire and is worth $4bn according to financial website, Forbes. He also owns a 40% stake in Czech Republic club Sparta Prague which makes him an experienced football administrator already and hopes to complete a total takeover of the club in future.
West Ham are currently third on the Premier League table after beating Liverpool 3-2 on Sunday and overtaking them into third. The investment will be a big boost for David Moyes who is overseeing a different era at the club.
