Mexican soccer has grown exponentially in recent years and has world-class teams among which América and Chivas stand out. These are the most winning and popular in the country, both clubs are recognized worldwide and stand out for their large number of followers. Which is the best team in Mexico?

 

Chivas that was founded on May 8, 1906, in 1908 began its participation in the Liga de Occidente, in which it managed to win 13 titles, being one of the most successful in the history of the competition. However, what counts is what it did from 1943, when it began its participation in the Major League, in which it won its first crown in 1957.


In what was known as the highest category of Mexican professional soccer, the First Division of Mexico, it has been one of only two teams that have participated in all tournaments. In terms of titles, it currently ranks second, with 12 (corresponding to the 1956-1957, 1958-1959, 1959-1960, 1960-1961, 1961-1962, 1963-1964, 1964-1965, 1969-1970, 1986-1987, Verano 1997, Apertura 2006 and Clausura 2017 tournaments).

 

 

It also has four Copa MX titles (1962-1963, 1969-1970, Apertura 2015, and Clausura 2017 tournaments), seven Campeón de Campeones (1956-1957, 1958-1959, 1959-1960, 1960-1961, 1963-1964, 1964-1965, 1969-1970 tournaments) and one Supercopa MX (2015-2016).Internationally, Chivas has won the CONCACAF Champions Cup twice (1962 and 2018), and was runner-up in the Copa Libertadores de América in 2018. In total, Chivas has 26 titles in official competitions.

 

 

Club América it is the institution with the highest number of championships in all types of official competitions among Mexican soccer clubs, with a total of 35 (25 national and 10 international).

 

 

It holds first place in First Division league championships with 13 titles won. At the same time, it occupies the first position in the list of clubs with the most national titles in Mexico with 25 (13 league titles, six Copa Mexico -the highest winner- and six Champion of Champions). Together with Club Deportivo Guadalajara, it is one of the two teams that have participated in every League season since 1943-44.

 

 

With ten championships, it manages to distinguish itself as the Concacaf team, and consequently the Mexican club, that accumulates the greatest number of international titles in total: seven in the Concacaf Champions League (where it stands out as the top winner), one in the Concacaf Giants Cup and two in the Inter-American Cup. In turn, it ranks 9th worldwide in terms of most international titles won. In addition, its record of 29 participations in international tournaments represents the highest number for any Mexican team.
