FC Barcelona's president has renounced some minutes ago. The reasons are many, but the motion of no confidence was the last hit.

Josep María Bartomeu has renounced as some minutes ago as president of the FC Barcelona after months and months of discussions around his job. The former executive was almost hacked after Lionel Messi's intention to abandon the club in the last transfer window. One of Messi's conditions was that Bartomeu didn't continue in the club. Now he is gone.

Non-the-less, Bartomeu added a new problem in the last days. The political group Més que una Moció -"More than a motion"- presented a claim to FC Barcelona demanding the club to set open elections for the club's members to vote if they wanted Bartomeu to continue as the team's president or not.

That demanding is what is called "motion of no confidence". Basically, is an election were members of the club have to decide if the keep "trusting" in Bartomeu or not. If the motion of no confidence ended up against Bartomeu's interests, he would have to resign. Now, nothing of that will be necessary.

If FC Barcelona would have desisted for convene to vote the motion of no confidence, Més que una Moció was ready to taka their claim to the  Tribunal Català de L'Esport -the Catalan sports regulation entity-, which would have forced Barcelona to held the elections.

This means that, not over Bartomeu had no way of escaping from the election, but that he also knew that he would have lost. It's logical, as the fans are than with the managerial and economical problems the club has been dragging for years. Now, with Bartomeus resignation, will Messi reconsider his position and stay at Barcelona?
