Now that the Club America already has a coach in the person of Santiago Solari, Rayados de Monterrey have Vasco Aguirre and Club Tigres has Tuca Ferreti, the possibility that Almeyda reaches Cruz Azul is getting closer and closer, as the club directors has confirmed approaches with the Argentine and debunked the rumors of Mohamed and Hugo Sanchez.

Club Cruz Azul has officially approached coach Matías Almeyda, as stated by the technical director himself, who left open the possibility of returning to Mexico, in order to take the reins of one of the so-called greats of the Mexican soccer. Cruz Azul was left without a coach almost a month ago, when Robert Dante Siboldi resigned from his position after the scandal defeat against Pumas UNAM, which left him out of the Final of the Guard1anes 2020 tournament, after a spectacular tournament in the regular phase

Club Cruz Azul now urgently needs a coach, as the start of the tournament is just around the corner and they need to shape the new project that will fight to reach the Mexican soccer title. His sights are very fixed on Matías Almeyda, who won titles in Mexico with Chivas de Guadalajara and who currently works with the San Jose Earthquakes of the MLS, a franchise that has him hired for two more years, this being the main impediment to leaving.

The Argentine technician Matías Almeyda commented that there is a proposal from Cruz Azul, which is being studied by the San Jose Earthquakes. It is worth mentioning that Almeyda has the will to go with Cruz Azul if things work out. According to local information, for Almeyda to leave San Jose, Cruz Azul would have to pay around 3 million dollars and thus close his contract with the American team.
