The romance between FC Barcelona and Ronald Koeman has ended in sports, but not in terms of contracts. If the Barça club still owes Quique Setién and his technical command the agreed amounts of a contract that expired in 2021 and which ended abruptly in 2020, now it will also face a similar situation with the Dutch coach.

Barcelona has to liquidate Koeman, and according to the journalist Lluís Canut, in statements to the ‘Tot Gira’ of Catalunya Ràdio, Laporta presented a downward offer to the Dutchman, who, as expected, did not accept.

"In the first conversations that have taken place between the representative of Koeman and the CEO of Barça, there has been a downward proposal, I think between 7 or 8 million, but of course, far from the 12 longs that Ronald Koeman has to collect and that in principle he wants to collect up to the last cent of this contract ”, explained the journalist.

In that sense, he clarified that “I don't know if these 12 million also include what must be paid to his technical staff or if it is only what remains to be settled with him, knowing that he postponed 45% of his contract last season since the club suffered the consequences of the coronavirus".

The journalist specified that this figure is not related to the amount paid by Barcelona to the Dutch federation in 2020 to release him from his contract as a coach, an amount that would be around 5 million euros.
