Gerardo Martino assumed in January 2019 as Technical Director of the Mexican National Team after having directed Atlanta United of Major League Soccer for 2 years. The Argentine did not take long to give his team an identity and, accompanied by the results, began to create an interesting base for the Qatar 2022 World Cup. The managers' confidence in him is full, so they hope he will not have problems in the Octagonal de Concacaf and get a ticket for the Cup.

In terms of numbers, it is clear that Tata is one of the best coaches in Tri's history. In addition to trying to play football well, having the ball for as long as possible and beating rivals, he has a high effectiveness of victories so far. In fact, he is about to face his 41st game and will go for a mark that few have reached in the last 40 years: to reap 30 wins.

So far, Gerardo Martino has directed El Tri 40 times: he won 29, tied 7 and lost 4, in which he scored 94 goals and received 39. Tonight, against Canada at the Azteca Stadium, he will seek to pass the 30 barrier and join the select group of: Bora Milutinovic (54), Ricardo La Volpe (38) Javier Aguirre (36) and Manuel Lapuente (33). Only La Volpe did it in one cycle; the rest needed two or more stages in the Mexican National Team.

It's important to highlight the effectiveness of each of them, a fact by no means less. Bora Milutinovic has 54 wins in 104 coached matches, winning 51% of them; Ricardo La Volpe has 38 in 71, with 53%; the Basque has 36 in 59, with 61% and Lapuente has 33 in 67, with 49%. Martino, meanwhile, harvests 29 in 40, winning 72.5% of his duels.
