According to official information, the absence of Navas along with other members of the Tico team is due to injuries suffered by the players: "Footballers such as Keylor Navas, Óscar Duarte, Cristian Gamboa, Luis Díaz and Juan Pablo Vargas were reported by their respective teams. as injured, for this reason they will not be taken into account for the Gold Cup ”.

In a statement, the Costa Rican team announced a list of 27 players who are still in the fight to belong to the national team in the Gold Cup, and among them does not include the PSG goalkeeper, who was reported as injured for a month when he lost the Nations League - Keylor suffered a dislocation of his right shoulder on the last date in Ligue 1 with PSG, which took him away from the Nations League final four.
