Former Manchester United striker, Wayne Rooney has been in the news recently for the wrong reasons. First, he apparently made a dangerous tackle that sidelined 1 of only 9 senior players at his club Derby County. Then, he was pictured with semi-naked women at a hotel and those pictures were shared across media.

Despite the recent negative press surrounding the Derby manager, the Rams have chosen to stick with him as their manager. This is perhaps because Rooney has also been very supportive of a club that is currently facing serious financial issues. While the club waits for a takeover by Sheik Khalid's Derventio Holdings, cash has been hard to come by. However, Rooney has done a lot to relieve the club of financial obligations despite being on a decent £90,000 a week wage at the club.

First, he reached an agreement that the club should spread his wages over a long period of time so they can control short-term spending. Then, he reportedly requested that a portion of his wages should be used to pay the salaries of his players.

After a lucrative career spanning Everton, Manchester United and ending at Derby County; Wayne Rooney is estimated to be worth about £122m in total.
